look below to see some of the before photos. the main living area had the fewest renovations aside from adding a light fixture to define the dining area, and removing a stone planterbox from the living room (gotta love those 50’s living rooms!) there was little to do but enjoy the feeling of floating above the water. the wrap around windows create a nature viewing paradise as bald eagles catch fish and return to their nests. we opted for swivel recliners to sit with coffee and look out, or turn for football.
the original fireplace wall included some oddly spaced stone shelves, there was dated track lighting. we worked with a mason to remove the stone shelves and planter box and rework the stone. i found an 18 foot reclaimed solid wood beam, and with the help of an installer and neighbor, the fireplace gained a full length mantle. as much as Ii would love to whitewash the stone, my husband gave a big thumbs down, but it is beautiful in it’s natural state as well. we built wooden boxes on casters that slide under the stone hearth, providing blanket and game storage. this room in general, is all about the view. with an added widow on the west side, the water wraps around the house. summer is full of speed boats and paddle boarders, in fall and winter ducks and lake otters play in the background.
the dining table is from one kings lane and has two side extension leafs we use constantly for large groups. and because we are real people we have kids chairs at our dining table. these chairs were a splurge item, however, they go from high chair through child and the high quality plastic wipes down with great ease. we have had these for 6 years now, living real life, and they are holding up great.
sofa: pottery barn slipcovered sofa, leather sofa in caramel, swivel recliners, rug, tree, and i am a little obsessed with this pillow. my orchid bowl is made with three trader Joe’s orchids in a studio mcgee for target bowl.

a few added photos below as each season gives new life to this living room.
