since we have lived in this house for six years, rooms have changed and grown a bit as our children have, from single beds to bunk beds, and cribs to toddler beds, the photos here are from many moments over the years.

our first child’s room went from a single bed to bunk beds with the Ikea kura bed. i painted the inside of a basket pink to make a pendant, the paintings are by me, pillows are mostly from japan.

the middle room began as a long skinny room for my second child, a boy (first photo), but when our third child was born, we added a temporary wall which we built on top of the carpet for easy removal later, and a door, to make two cozy separate rooms (i’m a baby wise mama, so keeping a consistent schedule is greatly aided by having separate rooms, no matter how small!) i covered the walls with paneling from home depot. the painting is mine. the original rug we brought back from japan, in an attempt to not purchase another rug, i used a sharpie to draw on the rug, six years later, the sharpie has mostly held up. the room has gone from crib and changing table, to bed and lego station. the corner piece of our upstairs couch serves as a corner chair.

when the rooms were separated, one of my lifelong dreams - to cover a room in boxwood hedge, came true. since the room was cozy and there was no closet, i covered an ikea wardrobe in the hedges also, becoming a secret closet and a favorite hid and seek spot. the mobile i made from crepe paper flowers. this room has grown from a nursery with crib, to a little girls room with a toddler bed. the rug and dressers are family heirlooms, swing chair was found on offer up.

we had no intention of redoing the kids bathroom, but when we found a granite slab with sink for $20 on offer up, the fate was sealed. i used leftover tile and knobs from our kitchen, and spent five times as much on the mirror, but it was worth it! a new light and faucet completed the look. please disregard the heap of diapers in the before, i had three small children at the time, and these are all real pictures of real living, fortunately the diaper days are behind us!
